In 1972, the Montreal Canadians had the Calder Memorial Trophy winner in Hall of Fame goalie, Ken Dryden. He led them to six Stanley Cups and won the Vezina Trophy five times.

It took 53 years for the Canadians to have another player win the Calder when Lane Hutson won it for the Habs.

Today, the oddsmakers at SportsBetting.ag opened lines for the 2025-26 Calder Trophy and it looks like it won’t take another 53 years for the Canadians to have the rookie of the year.

Ivan Demidov, who played two regular season games and all five playoff games for the Canadians, is still eligible to win the Calder and is favored by SportsBetting.ag.
